To install Futurama Vision both the Futurama Vision Management Site and the Futurama Vision Database have to be installed. In the configuration file of the Futurama Vision Management Site the connection between the Management Site and Database can be defined. This makes sure that these Vision components can interact with each other. Mentioned below the links to the installation pages:
- Installation Futurama Vision Database: page with the description how to install the Futurama Vision Database
- Installation Futurama Vision Management Site: page with the description how to install the Futurama Vision Management Site
Initial installation Futurama Vision
To install and use Futurama Vision for the first time, some steps have to be taken. The Management Site and Database have to be installed, but also some data has to be added in the Management Site in order to use this within the application. Below the steps are mentioned that are needed to install your initial Futurama Vision and connect an application with Futurama Vision.
Installation Futurama Vision
First the Database and the Management Site have to be installed. The links to these pages are mentioned below. Also the configuration to make the connection between the Management Site and the Database is shown here.
- Installation Futurama Vision Database
- Installation Futurama Vision Management Site
Make sure the Management Site is configured using Windows and Anonymous Authentication within IIS. After the Management Site and Database are installed and the connection is made, make sure you can navigate to the Management Site via the URL that is configured within IIS.
Connection between the Management Site and your application
After the Management Site and Database are installed, configure the connection with the Management Site within the application. You can add this configuration to your Editor config. See the next page for the elements that have to be added within your application configuration:
- Configuration - Vision
Now the connection is made, within your application you can test whether the connection works correctly. To test the connection, you can use the VisionReference 'testconnection'. Make sure your document is first saved before executing this VisionReference. See the next page for the explanation of this VisionReference:
- VisionReference - TestConnection
Add data to the Management Site
After the connection is completed, data can be added to the Vision Management Site. This data will be linked to a certain application. Before adding the data, first this application has to be added within the Management Site. To add this application, a ProductGroup, Futuramas and Apps have to be added on the Management Site page 'Manage domain tables'. See the page below for the explanation of these subjects.
On the initial installation it is easy to use wildcards. For example the location "%\website.xml" will accept all applications that have website.xml within their name. When using multiple Apps, make sure the path doesn’t comply to both as this will result in an error. For this first application no encryption is needed. For the URL you can fill in "%" as this is not needed at the moment. First add the ProductGroup and Futuramas before adding the App.
- Futurama Vision Management Site - Admin
After the application is defined, you can add some data to this application. You can download an example zip file by clicking here. This zip-file contains 10 non-encrypted records. Download this zip and upload it to the Management Site. See the next page how to upload a zip file. You only have to select the zip-file and click on 'Import file'. The other values aren't needed.
- Importing data from a Zip-file
After the zip-file containing the records is uploaded, this records can be imported into an application. See the next page on how to import these records.
- Further processing of data into Futurama Vision
Use the data within your application
Now these records are linked to your application. Within your Futurama application you can get this data from Vision using VisionReferences. First you can check the persons are available within you application. You can also use the first identifier (“person1”) to request the data that is available for this person. See the next pages for the VisionReferences to get the personidentifiers and get the data of a person.
- VisionReference – GetPersonIdentifiers
- VisionReference - ReadData
Use encrypted data
Now you have an application that is connected to Vision and can get the data of a person from Vision. Here also a zip-file is available with encrypted records. You can perform the steps above with this encrypted records to create an encrypted application. You can add another App, Futuramas and Productgroup with encrypted data. Make sure the path of your application is only used for 1 App. These records are encrypted with the password "welcome". See the next page how the encryption of data is used. This encryption key should be save with value="welcome". After this key is added within the web.config of the management site, also add this key within the Encryption Methods.
- Futurama Vision – Data
With the steps above, the data is added to Vision and is linked to your application. It is also possible to use Futurama Accounts within the Management Site. You can read all about Futurama Accounts on the next page.
- Futurama Accounts - Management Site
To login on the Management Site you have used basic security with windows authentication. It is also possible to create users on the Management Site and control the pages they can navigate to within the Management Site. The security settings that are possible and the steps to create an user are explained on the next page.
