Introduction

Description how to define Text management within the Vision Management Site.

Description

From Futurama version 21.01 it is possible to define text resources within the Vision Management Site. It was only possible to define text resources within a resource document. Now it is also possible to do this within the Vision Management Site. To define the text resources within the Vision Management Site, the pages 'Text management' and 'Text management resources' are added to the 'Management' menu. Within the Text management page, the different languages and resources are defined. The texts for the resources are defined within the Text management resources page. With these pages it is possible to define the text resources for your Futurama application. A description how to use the text resources defined in the Vision Management Site within your application can be found on the page Text management and Multi-language in the secion 'Text management in Vision'. A full description of the Vision Management Site pages can be found below.

Text management

Within the Text management page, it is possible to define the languages and resources that are used within an application. At the top of the page, the application is selected for which you want to define the text resources. Below there are two tables where the different languages and application resources are defined for this application. The text of the resources are defined on the Text management resources page..

Within the Languages table, the languages for the current application are defined.

ID

The ID is automatically assigned.

Language

Here you can enter the language you want to define.

Within the Application resources table, the resources for the current application are defined.

The ID is automatically assigned.

Resource

Here you can enter the name of the resource. This is the value that is used within "{{Resource:name}}" in the Futurama application to get the text of this resource (as described on the Text management and Multi-language page).

Text management resources

After defining the languages and application resources on the Text management page, the text of the resources can be defined on the Text management resources page. At the top of the page you can select the application for which you want to define the resources. Next you can select the language for which you want to change the resources. Below all the application resources will be shown with the current text of these resources. You can change a single resource, or change all the resources on the page by using the buttons at the top of the table.

Resources

Within the Resources table, the translation for the different resources are defined.

Resource

This is the application resource, as defined on the Text management page.

Text

Here you can enter the text of the application resource in the currently selected language. When the resource is loaded in the Futurama application for the current language, this is the text that is shown.

Downloading and uploading text management resources within Vision

From Futurama version 21.02 it is possible to download and upload text management resources as an Excel file respectively from and to Vision. This is done to make the switch for text management from Excel to Vision easy.

Downloading resources

With the action "Download resources" you can retrieve the text resources for the selected application in Vision and store these in an Excel file on disk. The obtained Excel file is already in the correct format (as described on the  Text management and Multi-language page, section Example 1 under Downloads) with the correct range name "RangeResources", which contains the resource names, languages and text resources. This Excel file can be used for upload into Vision.

Uploading resources

With the action "Upload resources" you must use an Excel file containing the text resources in a range with name "RangeResources". You can use the example from the Text management and Multi-language page, section Example 1 under Downloads, as this Excel file already has the correct format and range name. Be aware that by uploading text resources, all existing text resources for the selected application in Vision will be deleted and replaced by the text resources in the range "RangeResources" of the uploaded Excel.
